HEARING AIDS

HearMIAMI, The Audiology Center of Miami ENT Doctors (South Florida ENT CC10), values the listening needs of their patients. We serve adult and pediatric populations.  The three audiolgoists of HearMIAMI  work closely with our six ENT Physicians to provide the gold standard of hearing healthcare.  We have 6 locations within Miami-Dade and Broward counties.

HOW HEARING AIDS WORK

What is a hearing aid?  A hearing aid is a small electronic device you wear in or behind your ear.  It makes some sounds louder so that a person with hearing loss can listen, communicate, and participate in daily activities.  Hearing aids help in quiet and noisy situations.

Three parts to a hearing aid: microphone, amplifier, and speaker.  The hearing aid gets sound through the microphone, which sends the signals to the amplifier to make the sound louder.  The hearing aid user hears them through the speaker.

All of our hearing aids are digital .  Digital hearing aids help reduce background noise, improve clarity, prevent loud sounds from being too loud, reduce “whistling” from the hearing aids (also called feedback) and al low the audiologist to better adjust the hearing aids.

FACTS ABOUT HEARING AIDS

I

Hearing aids do not restore hearing to “normal”. They do not “cure” hearing loss, but provide benefit and improvement.

I

A hearing aid will NOT damage your hearing

I

Most people need two hearing aids. We normally hear with two ears.  Hearing with both ears (binaural) helps us locate sounds, hear better in background noise and improves clarity and quality of sounds.

I

Not all hearing aids are created equal.  It is vital to see a licensed doctor of audiology (Au.D.) to determine the hearing aid that is right for you!  Factors affecting recommendations include degree of loss, lifestyle, dexterity, cosmetics, and accessory connectivity.
